Respite Respite Care is temporary care provided so that the parent or other caregiver may receive a break from the responsibilities of care giving. The mission of the respite services is to reduce stress associated with the responsibilities of caring for children and to strengthen family and community relations by reducing the stress of parenting. The Jackson County Family Resource Center currently is the only agency providing respite to the seven western counties (Haywood, Jackson, Macon, Swain, Clay, Cherokee, and Graham). The Jackson FRC currently serves over 200 families with respite services.
Parents as Teachers Parents as Teachers (PAT) is an evidence-based home visiting program with demonstrated outcomes in school readiness and child maltreatment prevention. PAT serves families of children from prenatal to kindergarten entry through personal visits by a trained parent educator, group meetings with other parents and caregivers, screenings of children to identify health and developmental concerns, and referrals to professional or community resources.
Volunteers The Jackson County Family Resource Center is always looking for volunteers. Come help us help our community.
