Class Schedule

Two Days of Each Month- “Children in the Middle”: Facilitated by Mary Derks Dellinger. Course begins at 6pm and ends at 8pm. This course was designed to reduce children’s risk of post-divorce maladjustment by reducing loyalty conflicts experienced by the children. Must pre-register for this class.

August 19th- September 30th - “Love and Logic”: Facilitated by Mary Derks Dellinger and M.R. Hall. Course meets every Tuesday for 7 weeks. A light evening meal is served at 5:30. Childcare is provided free of charge for children under the age of 5yrs. Course begins at 6:00 pm and ends at 8:00 pm. This course now has a child component. Meaning children age 5 and older will be doing an activity with a facilitator, however if children are not with the parent at this time parents may still attend class. Love and Logic is a course for families with children of any age. Would you like to have more fun parenting? Would you like to feel more confident as a parent? Would you like to be more relaxed / less stressed-out at the end of the day? Would you like to have fewer “power struggles” with your children / teens? The course will also provide answers to: How do I get them out of bed in time to catch the school bus? How can I stop my children from bickering and fighting? Is there a way to discipline my toddler in public without creating a scene? How can I get my teenage daughter to come home at the agreed-upon time? Must pre-register for this course.

August 14th- “Making a New Money Start”: This class will be facilitated by an On Track financial education & counseling representative. Course meets Thursday form 6-8pm. This course will discuss the basics of managing your money. Topics include: How to craft a smart goal, planning to succeed, getting organized, tracking your spending, etc. There will be a light evening meal served at 5:50pm and childcare provided free of charge. Must pre-register for this class.

September 8th- October 23rd – “Strengthening Families”: Facilitated by Mary Derks Dellinger, Gene Perrotta, M.R. Hall, and Laura Whatley. Course meets every Monday and Thursday for 7 weeks. Light evening meal is served at 5:30. Childcare is provided free of charge. Course begins at 6:00 pm and ends at 8:00 pm. Strengthening Families is a course for families with children ages 6-11 years old. This course is designed to improve parent-child interaction, communication and problem solving. Great giveaways and drawings! Must pre-register for this course.

November 3rd- December 15th- “Nurturing Parent”: Facilitated by Mary Derks Dellinger and M.R. Hall. This course is for parents with adolescents (ages 13-19). This course meets Monday’s and Thursday’s for 6 weeks form 6-8pm. Families will learn nurturing communication strategies, how to recognize each other’s needs, how to understand the period of adolescence, and ways to build their own personal power, self-esteem, and self concept. Families will also discuss pregnancy delay, sex, sexuality, AIDS, suicide, and peer pressure. Must pre-register for this class.

September 23rd- November 25th– “Adventures in Reading”: Facilitated by Amber Clayton. For children ages 2 – 8 years old. Course meets every Tuesday for 10 weeks. Light evening meal is served at 5:30 pm. Course begins at 5:30 pm and ends 7:30 pm. Get in touch with nature at the Jackson County FRC. Each family will receive a copy of the book that is read each night. Space is limited. Must pre-register for this course.
